Beast Wars Goofs Guide
Season 1
1.  Beast Wars (1)
A ship of Predacon criminals, and the Maximal exploration ship pursuing it, both crash down on a energon rich planet. To survive the energon fields they acquire protective beast forms based on local animals.Series begins by showing the Maximals and Predacons battling in space. The Maximals are established as an exploration vessel, and the Predacons as warriors. Battle forces both teams to crash onto an unknown planet, the Predacons goal was Earth, where the Energon, which Transformers need to survive, is so abundant that it may cause damage to their robotic forms. They decide to create alternate forms based upon the most powerful local creatures. Dinobot loses a battle for leadership with Megatron, and leaves the Predacons. The Maximals are having issues accepting Optimus Primal as a commander, Cheetor is ambushed by Waspinator, and both the Predacons and Maximals go to battle. Optimus Primal is damaged when Rattrap refuses to obey an order. The Maximals retreat from the battle and are confronted by Dinobot, who challenges Optimus Primal for leadership of the Maximals.

b: 22-Apr-1996 w: Bob Forward d: Ian Pearson
NOTE: Introduces Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox, Rattrap, Megatron, Terrosaur, Waspinator, Scorponok, Tarantulus and Dinobot. Maximal Stasis Pods first introduced. Golden Disk introduced, stolen from Cybertron, which holds the location of a large Energon source. Reference to "Great War," refers back to the original battle between the Autobots and Decepticons in the original Transformers series. The Maximal ship is called Axalon, and the Predacon ship is the Darkside (unsure of spelling). The series opener. Megatron is the only Transformer to have a major role in each and every Transformers series to date. Originally, Optimus Primal and Megatron were to have four forms, two beasts and two robots. In addition to the forms seen in the series, Optimus was also to have the form of a bat while Megatron was to have the form of a crocodile, their forms that were sold as a basic two-pack during the first run of the Beast Wars figures. However, the limits of CGI technology at the time meant that the characters were ultimately given the forms seen in the show. Several of the figures in the toy line had an extra head, or "mutant head" as a gimmick. While initial animation models had these heads, the final animated versions lacked them, as the limitations of CGI technology made them cost prohibitive. However, at least two of the characters, Tarantulas and Waspinator, use the "mutant heads" as their heads in robot form. The reference to the "Great War" is correct as mentioned above. But at the time this pilot was written, in Beast Wars Season 1's extra - interview with writer Bob Forward - he confessed he didn't really know anything of the previous Transformers sagas and that he was just saying a great war to emphasize the war between the two forces. It wasn't until later that the writers started reading the TF newsgroups and other sources that they started incorporating original TF storylines in later episodes. This is the only Megatron (to date) whose name was not changed to Galvatron.

2.  Beast Wars (2)
Dinobot challenges Optimus for leadership of the Maximals, but while they fight the Predacons launch an ambush.

b: 23-Apr-1996 w: Bob Forward d: Steve Ball
NOTE: Dinobot challenges Optimus Primal to a battle for leadership of the Maximals. After a brief scuffle, the Predacons attack and knock both Optimus and Dinobot off the cliff. The Maximals save Dinobot and escape from the Predacons, but not before uncovering a large deposit of raw energon. Both teams converge on the energon deposit, where the energon fields are so strong that they must remain in their beast modes. The Predacons and Maximals battle to a stalemate when Megatron transforms and launches a missile at Optimus Primal. Dinobot saves Optimus, but knocks the missile into the energon, starting a chain reaction. Introduces the standing stone formation which will later be used to introduce the alien species Vok. Dinobot joins the Maximal team.

3.  The Web
While out testing a communicator adapted to the energon interference, Cheetor takes on Scorponok alone to prevent the Predacons getting salvaging a powerful cannon. But he is ambushed by Tarantulas and ends up knocked out. Overeager to make up for his failure he sneaks into the Pred base to take out the cannon, and once again stumbles right into Tarantulas fangs.

b: 18-Sep-1996 w: Larry DiTillio d: C. Michael Easton
NOTE: The mega-cannon was shot off the Darkside during the first episode. First mention of the Inferno. This is the first episode in which a unique trait of Cheetor's is displayed. As the series progresses, Cheetor will display a strange ability to predict certain events in the future, especially when he is dreaming. In this episode, he saw Rattrap slicing at him - the same maneuver Rattrap performs when he frees Cheetor from the stasis web. The jet with the Decepticon symbol seen in Cheetor's dream is Starscream. Starscream would later appear in "Possession", as a disembodied spark.

4.  Equal Measures
The Maximals are preparing to place out a Predacon detection system, but Optimus postpones it due to a fierce storm. Cheetor is however again out to prove himself, and starts setting it up anyway - ignoring the storm until a freak lighting somehow transports him into the Predacon base.

b: 23-Sep-1996 w: Greg Johnson d: T. W. Peacocke
NOTE: Terrorsaur's comment of "Welcome to the dark side" has long been misconstrued by fans as referring to the name of the Predacon ship. More likely, he's merely trying to intimidate Cheetor. When Dinobot disposes of Terrorsaur, you can hear the sound of a toliet flushing when he's ejected.

5.  Chain of Command
A stone circle, showing abnormal energon readings, is activated during a Predacon attack and attracts an alien probe. While investigating it, Optimus is disintegrated, leaving the Maximals bickering over who's in charge, while the Predacons prepare to attack.

b: 24-Sep-1996 w: Jesse Winfield d: Andrew Doucette
NOTE: First appearance of the aliens that would be revealed as the Vok in the 3rd season episode "Other Victories". During Rhinox's construction scene, the Maximal uses a common construction tool to hold the molecular rescrambler together: duct tape! This episode is the first appearance of Rhinox's chain guns, often referred to by fans as the "Chain Guns of Doom", a weapon that was voted most popular by the same fans for their choice of favorite first season weapon. This weapon is actually based on the weapon included with Rhinox's toy, but instead of being a spinning close range weapon, the writers adapted it as a projectile weapon. Although the vote for temporary Maximal commander is by "secret ballot" as Rhinox claims, it is made fairly obvious who both Rhinox and Cheetor voted for. Rhinox counts out the votes by saying "One vote for Rattrap, one vote for Dinobot, one more vote for Rattrap and... *deep upset sigh* Another vote for Dinobot. It's a tie." It's clear the second vote for Dinobot comes as a surprise, and since he had to know Dinobot would vote for himself, it is thus clear that Rhinox voted for Rattrap and Cheetor voted for Dinobot. Response to the note above: Also note that Rhinox said 'it's a secret ballot, no one has to know who they voted for' to Rattrap when the rodent objected to the tie. It is possible that Cheetor voted for Rattrap and Rhinox for DinoBot. Although there is a valid point that it was vice-versa.

6.  Power Surge
Terrorsaur comes across a mountain of energon floating in mid air. He chances robot mode to get a sample, but instead of damaging him, the energon supercharges him. With his newly gained powers he sets out to depose Megatron and then destroy the Maximals.

b: 25-Sep-1996 w: Larry DiTillio d: Nicholas Kendall
NOTE: First mention of the "Inferno". According to the writers, the Inferno is the Predacon foundary for their protoforms. The name of this foundary was changed to "the Pit" after "Spider Games" aired, to avoid confusion with the Predacon Inferno. About above: actually, the first mention of the Inferno was in "The Web". Anyone notice that in this episode, the energon on the floating mountain is kinda like some sort of drug to get stronger, like steroids in the aggression, only no side effect except for the energy drain.

7.   Fallen Comrades
One of the Maximal stasis pods, put in orbit before the crash, falls down in the north, and Optimus rushes out to retrieve it. Unfortunately, Megatron anticipates this and sets up an ambush that nearly kills the Maximal leader. Without a flyer, the Maximals race to the pod in hope of getting it before the Predacons reprogram the dormant robot inside.

b: 30-Sep-1996 w: Bob Forward d: Steve Ball
NOTE: Introduces Tigatron. Originally, this episode was supposed to introduce a character named Wolfang. All the same lines and personality traits were to be used, but in the end Tigatron was chosen instead. Some airings of this episode, including the Fox Kids! version, cuts out Rattrap's line "You can kiss...". It was considered too risque for some venues. Aside from introducing Tigatron, the episode also introduces a new weapon to Cheetor's arsenal: the fan dubbed "rump gun". This weapon would occasionally be inserted by the animators instead of Cheetor's more familiar "gut gun" whenever Cheetor and Tigatron appeared in the same scene together (though not in all episodes where the two characters appear). This was presumably done to avoid confusion between Tigatron and Cheetor's main weapons.

8.  Double Jeopardy
After repeated ambushes by the Predacons, this time costing the Maximals a stasis pod, Optimus calls Rattrap's loyalty into question, and sends him off into Predacon territory to look for energon. Once there, he is attacked by Terrorsaur, and offers to surrender... and become a Predacon.

b: 07-Oct-1996 w: Jesse Winfield d: Mark Schiemann
NOTE: Introduces Blackarachnia. Because the original Blackarachnia toy was a repaint of the original Tarantulas figure, the animators had to make some changes to Blackarachnia's form to differentiate her from Tarantulas. Popular legend states that Blackarachnia's "extreme" feminine form was inspired by exotic dancers. Watch the stasis pod as it comes into the atmosphere - you can clearly see Blackarachnia's head design on the protoform.

9.  A Better Mousetrap
While the Predacons are preparing to strike at the Maximal base by creating a hole in the ground below it, Dinobot accidentally activates the Maximal's new defense system before it's learnt to recognize the Maximals as friendlies.

b: 08-Oct-1996 w: Karen Willson & Chris Weber
NOTE: This episode has no opening credits. Introduces Sentinel In this episode, Rattrap goes through his list of skills: Stealth Fighter, Covert Ops, Marksman and Demolitions Expert.

10.  Gorilla Warfare
Scorponok infects Optimus with a virus supposed to make him a coward, but it turns him into a battle-crazed berserker instead. Filled with fury, Optimus attacks the Predacon base alone.

b: 14-Oct-1996 w: Greg Johnson d: James Boshier
NOTE: This is the first time you see Dinobot smile. Actually, I saw him smile in 'Beast Wars' but really, that was an evil smile. Has anyone here noticed that Optimus almost completely went 'Jason Vorhees' ["Jason"] on Tarantulas and Waspinator in this episode? Well, except they both survived. For Waspinator's "memory loop" scenes, the writers looked into other classic Transformer characters known for their manner of speaking, such as Grimlock and Warpath, before settling on Shrapnel.

11.  The Probe
Rhinox detects a Cybertronian probe entering the star system, but is unable to contact it though the energon fields. The only option is build a more powerful transmitter before the probe leaves, but the nearest suitable place is in the middle of Predacon territory.

b: 15-Oct-1996 w: Craig Miller & Marvin Wolfman d: Ezekiel Norton
NOTE: First mention of the Matrix in Beast Wars. The Matrix can have one of three meanings: 1) A referance to the Matrix of Leadership, first seen in Transformers: The Movie 2) The mystical place where all Transformer sparks go and originate 3) The foundary where Maximal protoforms come from.

12.  Victory
After installing a hidden camera in the Predacon base, the Maximals watch them destroy themselves up during a power-struggle between Terrorsaur and Megatron. Investigating, they find no signs of life, so it looks like they won, and can go back to Cybertron with salvaged parts from the remains of the Predacon ship.

b: 01-Nov-1997 w: Wendy Reardon d: Steve Ball
NOTE: When this episode originally went onto VHS, the scene of Megatron and Terrorsaur arguing before shooting the energon was cut.

13.  Dark Designs
After Rhinox thwarts a Predacon trap, Megatron decides it's time to test Tarantulas' newest device on him - reprogramming the Maximal into a Predacon. Megatron is certain that the new ally will make overrunning the Maximal base easy, though it seems like the new Rhinox has other ideas.

b: 04-Nov-1997 w: Ian Weir d: Owen Hurley
NOTE: First mention of the Decepticons and an original character, Shrapnel. waspinator thinks he's a desepticon befor "posseson" Can we get that in English, please? Waspinator thinks he's a Decepticon befor "Possesion" Note how Waspinator salutes the screen when he says 'Wonko the Sane!'. This was meant as a nod to www.bwtf.com creator and Transformers enthusiast Benson Yee, who provided research material for the creators of the show on multiple occasions. The name, coincidentally, was taken from the 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' series novel 'So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish'. "Add this as a cultural reference. Good find." - powerpole At the end of the episode, Rhinox admits that he was fascinated by his experience as a Predacon and the freedom of morals that it granted him, a sentiment reflected by Silverbolt during Beast Machines. Also, the concept of Rhinox as an enemy is revisited in Beast Machines, when Tankorr is revealed to have Rhinox's spark inside him. In both instances, Rhinox is portrayed as a frighteningly intelligent, cunning and cruel villain.

14.  Double Dinobot
Megatron creates a clone of Dinobot's beastmode, and sends him off to deactivate Sentinel while Terrorsaur traps the real Dinobot in a cave.

b: 05-Nov-1997 w: Rowby Goren d: John Pozer
NOTE: The skin of Dinobot's clone can be seen in Dinobot's quarters in "Code of Hero".

15.  The Spark
Rhinox spots a falling stasis pod while surveying unused Predacon territory. He is the first to arrive, but the pod is damaged and he is unable to activate the DNA scanner. Unless he can get it working again soon, the protoform's spark will be extinguished.

b: 11-Nov-1997 w: Larry DiTillio d: Colin Davies
NOTE: Introduces Airazor. First appearance of a Spark, the soul of a Transformer. The concept of Sparks will be used several time again during Beast Wars and all Transformers TV shows that follow. Official spelling is Air Razor, taken from the script. When the episode aired in Japan, the character of Airazor (official Hasbro spelling) was made a male! Popular legend says that Blackarachnia's design was inspired by an exotic dancer. Cheetor's line "How you do dance with all those skinny legs" might be a reference to this. Sparks were actually mentioned in 'Gorilla Warfare' by Optimus after he removed the cyber-bee from his chest, but weren't seen until this episode.

16.  The Trigger (1)
Tigatron discovers a floating island, with a giant obelisk in its center. When the obelisk fries Waspinator and Terrorsaur with a single blast, Megatron decides he wants that power and sends out Scorponok and Blackarachnia to seize it.

b: 18-Nov-1997 w: Bob Forward d: J. Falconer
NOTE: First indication that the second moon is not what it seems. Possibly the first real episode where Scorpinok's cyberbee is used besides the viral mind.

17.  The Trigger (2)
Optimus and Rattrap race to the island to assist Tigatron and the wounded Airrazor, while Scorponok and Blackarachnia make their way towards the obelisk.

b: 19-Nov-1997 w: Bob Forward d: Michaela Zabranska
NOTE: The message sent from the fallen obelisk to the Vok would have ramifications later. In what is most likely pure coincidence, when Blackarachnia "powers up", her colors change to the colors of the G1 Insecticons.

18.  Spider's Game
Predicting the next stasis pod's landing, Tarantulas knocks out both the Preds' and the Maximals' computer systems. He plans to recruit the protoform robot for himself, but has to let Blackarachnia tag along when she discovers him scheming.

b: 06-Jan-1997 w: Larry DiTillio d: James Boshier
NOTE: Introduces Inferno. Air Razor begins to show an interest in Tigatron in this episode. See Quotes. Before this episode aired, the Predacon name for their protoform foundary was called "the Inferno". You can hear several Predacons (and some Maximals) swear by it. After this episode, the name was changed to "the Pit". On several fansites, Inferno's weapons are listed as "twin flamethrowers and a butt-cuisinart". The "butt-cuisinart" is actually his jetpack.

19.  Call of the Wild
The Predacons steal the Maximals' rectifier-coil, leaving the Axalon without Energon shielding. Forced to remain in beastmode, the Maximals' mentality becomes closer and closer to that of their organic counterparts.

b: 07-Jan-1997 w: Bob Forward d: Jonathan Goodwill

20.  Dark Voyage
A Predacon attack sets off a large energon explosion, leaving a group of Maximals with their optic-sensors non-functional while they try to make it back to the base.

b: 27-Jan-1997 w: Samuel Warren Joseph d: Steve Ball
NOTE: This episode was meant to air earlier in the run, but had to be postponed because of production requirements. This accounts for the fact that neither Airrazor, Inferno or Blackarachnia are present. Because of the absense of several characters in this episode, it may or may not have been scheduled for an earlier run. If you listen closely, you can hear Optimus Primal mention Airazor.

21.  Possession gs: Doug Parker (Starscream's Ghost)
During a fierce storm, the immortal spark of the Deception Starscream lands on the planet and takes control of Waspinator's body. He convinces Megatron to let him help with an attack on the Maximal base, which he knows to be offline. His skills are after all considerable... but then again - so is his treachery.

b: 03-Feb-1997 w: Ian Weir d: Owen Hurley
NOTE: Starscream was one of the main characters in the original Transformers cartoon. The first concept for this episode was to have a latent Autobot memory be downloaded from the Axalon. Eventually, it was decided that a Decepticon would be more appropriate-since a foundation for that had already been set by the original Transformers series. Doug Parker, the voice of Starscream, was not associated with the Transformers franchise at all before this episode (Since this time, Parker has become the voice of Tidal Wave in the Armada anime series). He replaces Christopher Collins (aka Chris Latta), the voice of Starscream in the original Transformers, for this role. Sadly, Chris died of a heart attack four years before this episode aired. This episode establishes the relationship between the Maximals and Predacons with the Autobots and Decepticons. The Maximals are the descendants of the Autobots, while the Decepticons are the ancestors of the Predacons. When Starscream possesses Waspinator, Waspinator's Predacon insignias are replaced by the Decepticon emblem. Starscream and Rattrap's "You're nothin' but a sneakin' sipe i the grass." "Flattery will get you flattened, Vermin", is swomwhat similat to these lines from "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show" Mario: "Koopa, you're the meanest, ugliest lizard that ever slimed its way across Cramalot!" Koopa: "Flattery will get you nowhere." As Optimus Primal sais the line "Hasta la vista, Starscream," Sunglasses flip Down over his eyes. Blackarachnia references Transformers: The Movie by stating that Starscream was "scrapped" by Galvatron, as well as Starscream betraying Megatron/Galvatron. A third time Starscream has haunted Decepticons/Predacons. In Season 3 of Transformers, the ghost appeared twice with helping Octane after he stole Trypticon and another time preformed some tasks for Unicron. In response to "Doug Parker was not associated with the franchise before this episode": Actually, he's also the voice of Terrorsaur from the first episode on. Terrorsaur, by the way, is given few lines this episode... Most likely to keep down the confusion between his and Starscream's somewhat similar voices.

22.  The Low Road
Tarantulas infects Rhinox with a virus that causes him to sneeze raw energon, rapidly depleting the Maximal's power cells. Optimus sends out Dinobot and Rattrap to look for an antidote, and they end up having to follow the spider into its underground lair...

b: 10-Feb-1997 w: Bob Forward d: J. Falconer
NOTE: Scott McNeil plays both Rattrap and Dinobot, so he's practically yelling at himself throughout this episode. This episode is so damn funny!!

23.  Law of the Jungle
Tigatron accidentally blows up a Predacon ammo storage, and the resulting avalanche kills a feline friend. Tired of fighting, he sets of alone, renouncing his membership from the Maximals.

b: 17-Feb-1997 w: Mark Leiren-Young d: John Pozer
NOTE: Cheetor mentions that he and Dinobot are searching for more alien sites, which is a lead-in to the next episode. Tigatron's companion (supposedly the same one from his first appearance) is given a name: Snowstalker.

24.  Before the Storm
Inferno retrieves a golden disk hidden inside a glowing mountain. When Megatron sees it, he decides there are far more important things to worry about than the Maximals, and offers Optimus a truce. Meanwhile, Tarantulas is even more determined to leave the planet than ever.

b: 21-Feb-1997 w: Bob Forward d: Adam Wood
NOTE: While the on screen credit for this episode says "Larry DiTillio", the produced script had been totally rewritten by Bob Forward at the producers' request. The only remains from the original script was Tarantulas' scenes, and the concept of a Maximal/Predacon truce.

25.  Other Voices (1) gs: Blu Mankuma (Unicron)
An alien spacecraft lands and captures Airrazor while she's examining it. Optimus and Rattrap enter to rescue her, while the Predacons stand outside, ready to break the truce at a moment's notice.

b: 31-Mar-1997 w: Larry DiTillio & Bob Forward d: Colin Davies
NOTE: The original concept for the aliens (named "the Vok" in season three) by writer Larry DiTillio was that they were to be the evolved, purified form of the Swarm - a formerly-malevolent offshoot of Transformer reproduction, which appeared in the "Transformers: Generation 2" comic book series, and was purified by Optimus Prime at it's conclusion. He imagined this version of the Swarm as being an amalgamation of Transformer, human and a lizard-like race of aliens. The alien voice that can be heard speaking in this episode, which says "Cybertron," is the spoken language of these lizards. This is the second time that Optimus has been scanned by the aliens in this series - the first being in the earlier episode Chain of Command.

26.  Other Voices (2)
The spacecraft leaves, but not before revealing the second moon's true purpose - planet destruction. As it gets ready to fire, Optimus and the others return to the Axalon only to find Rhinox and Dinobot off-line... and spiders in their basement.

b: 01-Apr-1997 w: Larry DiTillio d: Ezekiel Norton
NOTE: Megatron's line about "Optimuses" sacrificing themselves refers to Transformers: The Movie, where Optimus Prime sacrificed himself to save the Autobots. First season finale. Megatron's line about "Optimuses love to sacrifice themselves" holds another meaning. In the G1 comics, Optimus Prime died and came back several times during the course of the comic run. If you pause the tape/DVD just right, you can see Optimus' head fly straight towards the screen after the explosion dies down.

 Season 2
27.  Aftermath
The alien machine is destroyed and Optimus went up with it, but the explosion sets off a quantum surge that changes the planet - and several of the robots. In his new, more powerful transmetal body, Megatron hopes to take out the Maximals before they have a chance to regroup and recover.

b: 26-Oct-1997 w: Larry DiTillio d: Colin Davies
NOTE: In the Japanese "Beast Wars Neo" movie, Optimus Primal is sent to another planet after he's destroyed on Earth, where another group of Maximals and Predicons are fighting. There he joins with his counter part in the fight. He is then returned to ancient Earth. Not part of the English Beast Wars continuity, but an interesting note. Rattrap, Cheetor, Megatron and Tarantulus are all upgraded to new Transmetal forms by a Quantum Surge from the Alien Device. Scorponok and Terrorsaur die in this episode. They fall into lava during the quantum surge. Second season opener. Scorponok and Terrorsaur are the first casualties of war. Notice that the stasis pod bots are not transmetalized. Probably something about the pod. Although not affected, Airazor, Rhinox, Terrorsaur and Waspinator have Transmetal upgrades in the Beast Wars Toyline. There is also a Transmetal Ant in the toyline called Scavenger. It was originally going to be Inferno's Transmetal upgrade but was changed for some reason. "Stasis pod bots are not transmetalized." In fact, we learn that the bots that emerge from the stasis pods are Transmetals of a sort. In "Other Visits", the Fuzors are not affected by the energon wave emitted by the "Metalhunter", indicating that they have Transmetal parts. Rampage, introduced in "Bad Spark", is a Transmetal, as is Dinobot II in the third season. The reason we may not recognize any Transmetal parts on the other stasis pod bots is because they've been destroyed. Watch Terrorsaur until he sinks into the lava. You can see that he is starting to turn Transmetal. Pity he had to die. Until the next episode (Coming of the Fuzors (1)), many people thought that the polar bear, Polar Claw, was going to join the Maximals, since Silverbolt's beast mode head (the only part of him that we see in the opening theme) looks like a polar bear head. While Terrorsaur falls into the lava his body glows, a sign he was transformed by the surge. This explains the Transmetal Terrorsaur toy. With this episode, Megatron is the only Predacon that has a reptile/lizard/dinosaur form. All the others are either insects, arachnids, or crabs. It should be noted that WASPINATOR was originally going to die instead of TERRORSAUR. But the producers and writers knew he was too beloved to be killed so they were able to talk Hasboro into backing down. The Transmetal bodies now feature a vehicle mode: Cheetor: Jet Rattrap: Dragster Megatron: VTOL (Verticle Take-Off and Landing) Tarantulas: Not yet revealed Truthfully, Snowstalker was the first casualty of war, even if she wasn't a transformer.

28.  Coming of the Fuzors (1)
Two new Maximals awake in Predacon territory, both with bizarre looks and unusual personalities due to the damaged systems in their stasispods. Taking advantage of their confusion, Megatron convinces them they are Predacons, hoping to finally crush the Maximals with these reinforcements. Meanwhile, Blackarachnia returns to the Predacon base with Tarantulas' body, Tigatron and Airrazor go of looking for more stasispods, Rhinox shuts down and connects to the Axalon in an attempt at reaching Optimus' spark, and Dinobot realizes that the aborted armageddon has left the planet looking awfully familiar.

b: 02-Nov-1997 w: Bob Forward d: Steve Sacks
NOTE: Introduces Quickstrike and Silverbolt. A Fuzor is a Transformer with a hybrid-beast alternative mode. Quickstrike is a cobra/scorpion, and Silverbolt is a wolf/eagle. Cheetor has a question mark on his arm when he first sees Transmetal Optimas. This episode firmly establishes that the Maximals and Predacons crashed on Earth, though there have been hints since the beginning that such was true. This Silverbolt tells us his name almost exactly how the G1 Silverbolt told us his name. The Silverbolt in G1 said "Uh, hi! I used to be a courier ship, but, um, now I think I'm... Silverbolt?" And this Silverbolt said "I think my name is... Silverbolt, yes, pure, strong and fast." The term "Fuzor" would be used again for the American release of Zoids known as BLOX in Japan. Quickstrike and Silverbolt are not the first Transformers to have two different alternate modes combined into their main form; that honor belongs to the Decepticon Astrotrain from G1. Response to above: Astrotrain's alternate mode wasn't two forms combined into one, he just had two different vehicle modes. Tarantulas is brought back to life by Blackarachnia and reveals his vehicle mode as a Motorcycle. The tooth and orb structure on Silverbolt's waist was originally intended to be a Gatling gun.

29.  Coming of the Fuzors (2)
Hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned, Rattrap, Cheetor and Dinobot try to keep the Predacons away from the Axalon where Rhinox lies delving deep into the Matrix, pursuing a faint hope...

b: 09-Nov-1997 w: Bob Forward d: Cal Shumiatcher
NOTE: Optimus Primal is reborn as a Transmetal. Silverbolt joins the Maximals. Much of the beginning of this episode (and the end of the last) is a tribute of sort to the speggetti westerns of old. This is most notable with the straps of ammo on Dinobot. Optimus Primal's Beast/Vehicle Modes: Gorilla/Sky Surfer

30.  Tangled Web
Megatron sends out Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Quickstrike to build an energon refueling station, though the spiders' scheming complicates even the simplest task.

b: 16-Nov-1997 w: Len Wein d: Craig McEwen
NOTE: Scott McNeil plays both Rattrap and Silverbolt, so he's practically on this mission by himself, throughout this episode. Blackarachnia frees herself from Tarantulas' control. Keep an eye on the background after Megatron commends Waspinator. Inferno is acting like a Maximal by tearing down the Jamming tower. *laughs* I think the shot that destroys the mountain-based structure comes from Megatron himself. This has to be when he discovers the Ark.

31.  Maximal, No More
Dinobot is captured while on a recognizance mission, and surprisingly asks Megatron for permission to rejoin the Predacons, offering the golden disk as proof of his sincerity.

b: 23-Nov-1997 w: Patrick Barry d: Trenton Carlson
NOTE: Dinobot defects TWICE in this episode-first back to the Predacons, then returning to the Maximals. He also gives the Cybertronian Golden Disk back to Megatron.

32.  Other Visits (1)
While out surveying the planet, Airrazor and Tigatron trigger a remaining alien site. While the Maximals scramble to their rescue, Tarantulas is already on his way, determined to thwart the aliens' plans.

b: 08-Feb-1998 w: Larry DiTillio d: John Pozer
NOTE: Last appearance of Tigatron and Air Razor in the series, though Blu Mankuma (voice of Tigatron) later does the voice for Tigerhawk (the combined bodies of the 2) in season 3. The fist fight between Rhinox and Inferno is reminiscent of the old game "Rock'em Sock'em Robots" where two robots would punch each other until one's head popped up. Interestingly enough, the classic Transformers toy line had its own version of this game with Megatron and Optimus Prime as the robots punching each other. "Good find. Would be better classified as a Cultural Reference. Please resubmit." - powerpole

33.  Other Visits (2)
Surviving the energon surge thanks to their new transmetal bodies, Tarantulas sets up a shield around the alien construct and heads inside along with Megatron and Quckstrike. Outside, Optimus and Rattrap try to figure a way in, while the two other transmetalized Maximals return the wounded Rhinox and Dinobot the CR chambers.

b: 15-Feb-1998 w: Larry DiTillio d: Colin Davies
NOTE: In the script, the alien construct is referred to as 'Metalhunter'. The alien Golden Disk is destroyed along with the Metalhunter. Most fans believe the alien device later seen in the third season episode "Feral Scream" came from the Metalhunter featured in this episode. This episode is about the only time Megatron captures Optimus.

34.  Bad Spark
Cheetor discovers a huge stasis pod, containing Protoform X - a failed Maximal experiment that created an indestructible spark but drove it insane in the process. When Predacons arrive, a fight breaks out over it, setting off an energon storm that leaves Blackarachnia and Silverbolt together damaged, having to fend for themselves - While Protoform X awakens, looking for a victim...

b: 22-Feb-1998 w: Greg Johnson d: Steve Sacks & Jonathan Goodwill
NOTE: Introduces Rampage, AKA Protoform X. In the flashback with Protoform X, Rattrap and Rhinox are the Maximals attempting to restrain it, and Optimus Primal looks on sadly (though only Primal's head is clearly visible). Megatron obtains control of Rampage by cutting out a piece of Rampage's Spark with an Energon blade. This half-Spark will play a greater role in Season 3. Protoform X was an attempt to clone the immortal spark of Starscream. One of Optimus's missions as captain of the Axalon was to dump him somewhere far and barren where he couldn't hurt anyone. Obviously, the mission was aborted when they were forced to pursue the Predacons. It appears that Blackaracnia and Silverbolt are growing an attachment between them. Many of the Beast Wars Fans 'Fanfics' take place after this episode, an example would be; https://www.angelfire.com/ca3/moonkitty/myfanfics.html This episode was released as a movie in Japan as part of the "Beast Wars Special" Theatrical release along with a clip show of the first season and a cel-animated movie starring the original Optimus Primal. Rampage's Beast/Vehicle Modes: King Crab/Tank

35.  Code of Hero
Rhinox discovers that the Trans-Warp wave will soon reach Cybertron, meaning that a rescue may at long last be at hand. Megatron also learns of this, and decides that he will not surrender. Instead, Megatron uses the Golden Disk to destroy key details of the past that would severely alter the future.

Meanwhile, Dinobot is still searching for a way to reclaim his lost honor. He gets the chance upon finding out Megatron's new target for destruction: The early human race.

b: 09-Mar-1998 w: Ian Weir d: Bob Forward
NOTE: In the United States, 'Code of Hero' and the remaining four episodes of Season 2 were first broadcast on Cartoon Network. During Dinobot's funeral, Optimus Primal, Cheetor and Silverbolt fly overhead in the famous "Missing Man" formation. This episode marks the death of Dinobot. The skin of Dinobot's clone can be seen hanging on the wall in Dinobot's quarters. Apparently, Dinobot skinned his clone before he ate him. This episode was humerous in the recording studio ie. Scott Mcneil speaking Dinobot's last words while other people laughing Mcneil (Still talking as Dino-bot): Do you mind?!! I'm trying to die here!!! Marks the last time we see Rhinox in his beast form. For the rest of his appearances in Beast Wars and Beast Machines, he is seen in his robot form. On the Fox Kids version of this episode, half of the fight sequences are deleted to lower violence. The famous "Missing Man" formation occurs twice in this episode; once as Dinobot observes the birds outside the window of his quarters, and again at his "cremation". Many Beast Wars fans have unanimously agreed as 'Code of Hero' being the best episode ever. This episode ended on a good note as a neanderthal killed a snake using the rock-on-a-stick weapon previously used by Dinobot. He then celebrated with a triumphant war cry. Dinobot and Rattrap have finally ended their grudge on each other and before Dinobot's demise both have now full respect for one another. During the funeral, Rattrap looks the way he did in season one. The Golden Disk is shattered by Dinobot. Look VERY closely, the "Missing Man" formation occurs for an overlooked third time. It is before Rampage blows up the mountain, three anthropoids make the formation while walking.

36.  Transmutate gs: Susan Blu (Transmutate)
A series of earthquakes uncovers a heavily damaged stasispod. Out of it comes a freakish robot - barely sentient, but with extremely powerful weapons. Scoffed at by the others, both Silverbolt and Rampage sense a kindred spirit, each in their own way.

b: 10-Mar-1998 w: Christy Marx d: J. Falconer , Sean Osborne, George Samilski
NOTE: It's fitting that Rattrap should mention his "great aunt Arcee" in this episode, as Transmutate was voiced by Susan Blu, who, besides serving as Beast Wars' Voice Director, voiced Arcee in the original Transformers cartoon. The Beast Wars script describes Transmutate as " a being with no beauty of form nor logic of shape, massive, made of unmatched parts: bits of Predacon, pieces of Maximal, chunks of Fuzor and Transmetal, heavy-duty weapons, and a face that vaguely indicates it is female. This episode also describes that most bots, be them maximal or predacon, bases their opinion on appearance and mentality of others only, whereas Silverbolt was the only one of the Maximals to see the true beauty behind Transmutate. Rampage was fixated merely on the deformed Protoforms' pain and neglect from either side, and thus was the only reason he tried to protect her. In the end, Transmutate was merely caught inbetween their war.

37.  The Agenda (1) gs: Lee Tockar (Ravage)
As the transwarp wave generated by the explosion in "Other Voices (2)" nears Cybertron, the Maximals rejoice, thinking the rescue is on its way. But unbeknownst to them, it is intercepted and diverted by the leaders of the Cybertronian Predacon alliance, who view Megatron as a loose cannon and wants to deal with him quietly, by sending one of their covert operatives.

b: 11-Mar-1998 w: Bob Forward d: Cal Shumiatcher
NOTE: Ravage was one of the main characters in the original Transformers series. The "Tripredacus Council" who appear in this episode are, despite appearances, intended to be Sea Clamp, Ram Horn and Cicadacon, the three Beast Wars toys who combined together to form a giant robot called Tripredacus. However, due to time constraints, animation models resembling the toys could not be constructed, and so the versions seen in this episode were hastily made. Because of their lack of resemblance to the toys, Hasbro requested that they not be individually identified by name.

38.  The Agenda (2) gs: Lee Tockar (Ravage) Gary Chalk (Original Megatron)
Megatron is captured, but the battle used up too much of the cruiser's energon supply for there to be enough for the travel back to Cybertron. While Ravage interrogates Megatron about where they might find more, Primal confronts Silverbolt about his relationship Blackarachnia, leading the Fuzor to go off on his own to find her.

b: 12-Mar-1998 w: Bob Forward d: Owen Hurley
NOTE: At the end of the episode, Ravage transforms into a cassette tape. This homage to the original Transformers series, in which Ravage's original form was a cassette. The transformation sound that occurs when he transforms is also same sound effect from the original when the Transformers transformed. It was originally planned for the original "Transformers" theme tune to play when Ravage transformed to cassette mode and entered the tape slot, but this had to be dropped because rights to the music could not be obtained. Characters from the original Transformers series who appear in this episode are: Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Prowl (in the flashback), Soundwave, Starscream, Skywarp (in the Ark) and of course, Optimus Prime. Because of time and money issues, voice actor Frank Welker was unable to reprise his role as the original Megatron. Response: The Original TF characters does not appear until The Agenda (3), not (2) as above mentioned.

39.  The Agenda (3) gs: Lee Tockar (Ravage)
The Maximals manage to take out the transwarp cruiser and fend of the Predacon attack. But the battle is far from over, as Megatron heads for the now uncovered Autobot Ark - containing the heroes and villains who'll shape the Cybertron where the Predacons and Maximals come from.

b: 13-Mar-1998 w: Bob Forward d: Asaph Fipke & Colin Davies
NOTE: Writers and animators watched a tape of the original Transformers pilot, 'More than Meets the Eye', for reference when writing and animating the flashback scenes. In this episode, Silverbolt points out the planet Venus to Blackarachnia and says it reminds him of her. This scene is a direct reference to Blackarachnia's voice actress, Venus Terzo. Optimus Primal's line about die-cast construction being a lost art is a reference to the Transformers toyline. Earlier toys (such as the G1 characters found on the Ark) were made of metal, wheras Beast Wars toys are made almost entirely of plastic. The second season finale. Optimus Primal's comment about "die-cast construction" has an ironic twist these days. At the time this episode first aired, Transformers toys were being made entirely out of plastic, a trend that continues with each new main Transformers line. However, die-cast parts have come back into use with the release of the Japanese BinalTech figures and the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime "Masterpiece" figure. This season ends with a cliffhanger. The G1 Autobots and Decepticons seen during the flashback and during Megatron's monologue are, in this order: Optimus Prime, Bluestreak/Prowl (could be either), Bumblebee/Cliffjumper (could be either), Ironhide, Ratchet, Soundwave, Starscream, Thundercracker/Skywarp, and Frenzy/Rumble (could be either). In the original drafts of the episode, Optimus and Megatron went one on one during Ravage's attack on the Axalin, with the Predacon leader saying "One shall stand and one shall fall, eh? Please." This quote would have been another of the trilogy's G1 references; it was what Optimus Prime said to the original Megatron during their own final fight in "Transformers: The Movie". Speaking of Binaltech figures, some souls are going to be transported into the bodies of them on the website: www.freewebs.com/schooldaysdiary.

 Season 3
40.  Optimal Situation
Realizing that without the Maximals she would never have existed, Blackarachnia actives the Ark's defenses and forces Megatron out of the ship. The Maximals start initial repairs and the time storm subsides a bit, but Optimus Prime's life still hangs in the balance - it could swing either way. Megatron rallies his troops to make sure it swings in his favor.

b: 25-Oct-1998 w: Bob Forward d: Steve Sacks
NOTE: While Optimus Prime's spark-container bares a striking similarity to "the Matrix of Leadership" introduced in the 1986 Transformers movie, it wasn't supposed to. The animators were just told to make it look special, and ended up looking to the movie for inspiration. Once Primal becomes Optimal Optimus, he takes on a few characteristics of the original Optimus Prime-namely G1 Prime's two trademark quotes: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" and "Transform and ROLL OUT!" The third and finale season opener. Ravage's head being knocked aside was an indication to fans that the character would not be returning to the series. However, his role in "The Agenda" was such that Takara actually created a BW toy of him, and he played a part in the convention exclusive comic series as "Tripredacus Agent". Blackarachnia chooses to fight against Megatron, but still retains her Predacon classification. Inferno, has been given the rank of Predacon Sub-commander. Rhinox clearly states that Optimus Prime's spark contains the Matrix. Optimal Optimus' Beast/Vehicle Modes: Gorilla/Aerial Assault Vehicle/Ground Assault Vehicle The other title for Optimal Situation is "The Agenda pt 4" Have you noticed that several things that Optimus said as an Optimal until he returned Prime's spark is almost the same thing Prime would say? Can you say "partial possession"?

41.  Deep Metal
The Maximal Depthcharge flies into a temporal disruption while out searching for Protoform X, and is sent back in time to the Beast Wars. He and Rampage has some unfinished business, and neither cares if anything gets in their way.

b: 01-Nov-1998 w: Larry DiTillio d: Owen Hurley
NOTE: Introduces the Maximal Depth Charge. Interestingly, when Depth Charge first transforms, he yells "Maximize!" and transforms into his beast mode. While most Maximals have used the term to transform to robot form, Depth Charge is perhaps the first to use it to transform into his other modes. In the original script, Depth Charge was supposed to have flown into space in "cruiser mode" at one point. However, it was decided that Depth Charge would arrive via a "starhopper" vehicle. Bob Forward still maintained that the character was capable of space flight. Though both Blackarachnia and Silverbolt appear many times in this episode, neither of them have any lines whatsoever. Depth Charge's Beast/Vehicle Modes: Manta Ray/Starhopper (looks just like his ship)

42.  Changing of the Guard
Unable to jury-rig defenses using parts from the Ark, the Maximals send Rattrap down under water in a small capsule to retrieve Sentinel from wreckage of the Axalon. But Megatron wants to lay his hands on it too, and Rampage and Depthcharge fighting it out in the area, nobody's safe.

b: 08-Nov-1998 w: Evan Carlos Somers d: Steve Sacks
NOTE: When the thought bubble appears over Cheetor's head, his beast form in the bubble is his first season appearance. The music played when Rattrap first gets the midget sub working was mistaken by many fans as carnival music. It is, in fact, "sailor's music", used to demonstrate Rattrap's "adaptation" to his new environment. If you watch Rattrap's eyes closely after the "pinball" scene, you can see the word "Tilt" flashing.

43.  Cutting Edge
Two young cave-humans are separated from their parents by an attack from Megatron's new transmetal enhanced raptor clones. Optimus chases off the raptors and charges Blackarachnia and Cheetor with escorting the kids back to their homes.

b: 15-Nov-1998 w: Ian Weir d: Trenton Carlson
NOTE: The "cyber-raptors" in this episode serve as a hint to the new character that will appear in the next episode. Introduces the humans Jack and Una. Cheetor seems to like Blacky a lot this episode.

44.  Feral Scream (1)
Using a newly discovered blank protoform, and his part of Rampage's spark, Megatron creates a clone of Dinobot incorporating his enhanced transmetal 2 technology. Discovering the experiment, Cheetor and Depthcharge try to destroy the equipment, but it is activated during the fight and blows up - the cat getting caught in the blast.

b: 31-Jan-1999 w: Greg Johnson d: John Pozer
NOTE: Megatron creates a Transmetal 2 clone of Dinobot using the core of Rampage's Spark. Also introduces Transmetal 2 Cheetor, though we never get a good look at him. Much of Megatron's speech is from "Frankenstein" complete with Waspinator as Igor. "Tallories", "Dacerin", and "Zarak" are the names of Transformers fans. There's a 'Looney Tunes' bit where Cheetor zooms past Megatron causing him to spin like the Tazmanian Devil. Megatron then falls off the cliff like Wile E. Coyote.

45.  Feral Scream (2)
Afraid of what he's becoming and unable to control it, Cheetor tries to hide his temporary transmetal 2 transformation, leading the others to believe a mutant beast has destroyed him.

b: 07-Feb-1999 w: Jules Dennis d: Steve Sacks
NOTE: Cheetor becomes upgraded into a Transmetal 2. In this episode, we acctually see Cheetor in all three of his forms (his original form, his transmetal form and his transmetal 2 form). Cheetor's Transmetal 2 form actually debuted in the last episode, only his new form was revealed in shadows. This is the first episode that we see a clear version of him. Objects in Cheetor's room: model of Axalon, Photo of him and Optimus, model of the solar system, a photo of Blacarachnia, a clock, and several tail swords. Objects in Cheetor's room: model of Axalon, Photo of him and Optimus, model of the solar system, a photo of Blacarachnia, a clock, and several tail swords. Cheetor's color scheme in the series differs from that of his toy. His colors on the show were the original pattern Hasbro was planning for the toy.

46.  Proving Grounds
Blackarachnia is getting tired of the distrust, and when she overhears Optimus and Rhinox discussing removing her Predacon programming, and the fact that it might leave her mindless, she rushes out on her own... straight into the claws of the waiting Dinobot.

b: 14-Feb-1999 w: Arthur Sellers d: William Lau
NOTE: Dinobot demonstrates a new power of the Transmetal 2 forms that was only hinted at in Feral Scream. Apparently, using the energy of their sparks, Transmetal 2s can heal themselves, without the aide of a regeneration chamber. You see Rattrap playing Optimus versus the computer (Megatron) in a Beast Wars version of the video game: Street Fighter when Silverbolt shows up; Later, he's playing a Beast Wars version of Quake where he's shooting lots of Waspinators when Optimus walks in.

47.  Go with the Flow gs: Susan Blu (Oona)
Megatron is building a disruptor ray to scramble the Maximals' circuits, but needs an organic lifeform who won't be affected by it to finish putting the shielding into place. He has one of the cave-human children kidnapped, and it's up to Rattrap and Depthcharge to save her.

b: 18-Feb-1999 w: Bob Forward d: Cal Shumiatcher
NOTE: This episode was written as a replacement for "Dark Glass" by Christy Marx, which the producers deemed to dark and mature for Beast Wars' target audience. In it, Rattrap discovered a copy of the original Dinobot's personality (probably made by Dinobot in "Bad Spark") and tries to upload it into the new Dinobot. He is successful and while Dinobot's personalities struggle for control, the old one emerges for a short while. Ultimately, however, the new one wins, and Rattrap is forced to accept that the Dinobot he knew is gone. This episode would also have been the basis for Dinobot's actions in "Nemesis (2)".

48.  Crossing the Rubicon
Blackarachnia attempts to use the transmetal driver on herself, but all it accomplishes is to disrupt her Predacon programming, making it deteriorate quickly to the point that it will make her mindless unless it is removed.

b: 22-Feb-1999 w: D.C. Fontana d: Trenton Carlson
NOTE: Blackarachnia becomes a Transmetal 2 and now uses the "Maximize" transformation command. D.C. Fontana is a noted science fiction writer. Her credits include several episodes in the Star Trek series. The apperance of Megatron's rubber ducky during the communication with Tarantulas marks the last apperance of the Predacon leader's much beloved toy in the series. It presumably was vaporized when the Predacon base was destroyed two episodes later in "Other Victories". Before Blackarachnia gets repaired, she gives Optimus the Ark's access codes. This is important for the next episode. Not only does Megatron have his rubber ducky in this episode, but he also has a slushie in his right hand before hiding it from Tarantulas.

49.  Master Blaster
Optimus is implanted with one of Tarantulas' bugs, this one letting Quickstrike remote control him. After securing the Maximal base, Megatron goes after the original Megatron's spark, hoping it will give him equal power to Optimal Optimus.

b: 15-Mar-1999 w: Eric Torin d: Steve Sacks
NOTE: Eric Torin is an animator for Mainframe. Megatron captures the Spark of his "namesake" (G1 Megatron) and mutates into a Transmetal 2 dragon. At the end of the episode, Megatron does not return the Spark. Notice how Blackarachnia (single handedly) defeats about half of the Predacons who stayed at the Maximal base. Notice how Blackarachnia hits Rampage with a giant metal bar... without using her hands! Telekenetic? I think so.

50.  Other Victories (aka Closure) gs: Blu Mankuma (Tigerhawk)
In an attempt to stop the distortion of time, Vok aliens use the bodies of fallen Maximals Airrazor and Tigatron to create a new emmissary: Tigerhawk. This mighty warrior is sent to Earth to destroy Megatron before more damage to the time stream is caused. When Optimus Primal learns of Tigerhawk's intentions, he realizes that he has no choice but to PROTECT Megatron-who still has control of the original Decepticon leader's Spark!

In the background, Tarantulus waits silently, with his own intentions for the alien emmissary...

b: 05-May-1999 w: Larry DiTillio d: William Lau
NOTE: This episode had a lot less time to wrap up the Vok storyline than the writer had wished. Originally intended to be a two parter, it was additionally hampered by having to introduce Tigerhawk. In this episode, Tarantulas claims that he and the Tripredacus Council are not descended from either the Autobots or the Decepticons, but these different origins are not expanded on. Writer Larry DiTillio intended for Tarantulas and the council to be descended from the "Generation Two" Decepticons - Decepticons who remained behind on Cybertron when the Ark was dormant on Earth, who were featured in the "Transformers: Generation Two" comic book series. This was not included in the finished series - such a move irrevocably would tie the series to the comic continuity, and up until now, it had remained fairly ambiguous (albeit with leanings to the G1 cartoon continuity) - but co-writer Bob Forward attempted his own "different origins" resolution in "Nemesis," Part One, where Megatron calls Tarantulas "Unicron's spawn." It's possible to take this as just some common insult, though. Vok aliens use the bodies of Tigatron and Airrazor (captured back in season 2) and create Tigerhawk. Later, the combined Sparks of Tigatron and Airrazor become part of Tigerhawk. It's also possible that Tarantulas is decended from a series of Decepticons built by the Quintessons from the original series. It's never directly stated as such, but it's possible. After getting extracted from Tigerhawk's body, the Vok enter Tarantulus body. But later both Tarantulus and the aliens die. Response about Tigerhawk in the 'Analysis': I agree with you big time. What the writers should've done was air 'Crossing the Rubicon' after 'Proving Grounds' followed by 'Master Blaster' and then made 'Other Victories' a Two-Parter. Plus they could've kept him so he could star in Beast Machines for a while, so we could've known the character a little more. Tarantulas' attempts at controlling the Vok is a plot point in the convention exclusive "Expanded Universe" comic series. Once titled "Closure", the episode was renamed to match the "Other V" characterization of past episodes that featured the mysterious Beast Wars aliens. Many fans have commented on the short period of time that Tigerhawk spent in the series. The reasons the character was never expanded was several fold, primarily of which was the fact that Hasbro initially never intended Tigerhawk to become part of the Beast Wars toy line. Hence, the character was killed off only two episodes later, even after the toy was released. A 3-D model of the Decepticon flagship Nemesis can be seen on Tarantula's monitor at the beginning of the episode, hinting at what the spider has been up to over the last year and setting up its discovery in the series-finale. The Predacon base is destroyed Amazing how in Other Voices pt 2, Tarantulas was burnt to near death (only reason why he didn't die is because his core consciousness transferred into Blackarachnia's head) and in The Agenda pt 3, he was blown into tiny pieces. It seems a little too easy for him to be blown up with his own data tracks. *shrugs*

51.  Nemesis (1) gs: Blu Mankuma (Tigerhawk)
While Inferno, Quickstrike and Waspinator go looking for a new "colony", Megatron discovers one of Tarantulas' secret projects - the reactivation of the gigantic Decepticon warship that shot down the Ark before it crashed into the sea.

b: 06-May-1999 w: Bob Forward d: Ezekiel Norton
NOTE: Depth Charge and Rampage destroy one another in a final battle. The Book of Primus is paraphrasing from the biblical book of Revelation. See Cultural References section. Many fans had wondered where Tarantulas was during most of the third season, especially with his death in "Other Victories". "Nemesis" reveals that the spider had been very busy off-screen, i.e. repairing and refitting the Nemesis. After nearly 3 full seasons, Waspinator turns his back on the Predacons- and gets blown away yet again for it.

52.  Nemesis (2) gs: Blu Mankuma (Tigerhawk)
Destruction rains down on the Maximals as Megatron unleashes the weapons of the Nemesis. Optimus orders a desperate attempt at getting the Ark airborne.

b: 07-May-1999 w: Simon Furman d: Cal Shumiatcher & Steve Sacks
NOTE: The writer of this episode, Simon Furman, is considered one of the greatest writers involved with the original Transformers, having written the UK Transformers comic and the closing run of the US comic. A scene where the original Megatron's spark was returned was animated, but cut for unknown reasons. The official line is however that it was returned, and it plays no part in Beast Machines. A copy of the scene can be downloaded from BWTF.com. The original plot for this episode was that the Decepticons Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet (from the original Transformers series) would be found in stasis aboard the Nemesis and reactivated. The Maximals would get the Ark airborne, and engaged the Decepticons and the Nemesis in a final aerial battle - but none of it was possible due to time and money constraints. The series finale. Tigerhawk, Quickstrike, Inferno and Dinobot(II) die in this episode. For someone who got slagged a lot during the shows, Waspinator was the only Predacon (other than Megatron) to survive the Beast Wars. Also, Waspinator becomes leader of the prehistoric-humans. The infamous "deleted scene" of G1 Megatron's spark being returned to its rightful vessel is included in the Third Season DVD set from Rhino Video, though the copy is of relatively poor quality. Another scene that was animated but cut was a brief scene showing Optimal Optimus tearing a transwarp cell from the Nemesis; he can be seen carrying the cell as he flies out of the exploding ship. This would have explained why the Autobot shuttle - built before the advent of transwarp - was able to jump through time. If you look closely in one of the last scenes, you can see Rhinox standing by a piece of equipment with the Predacon insignia on it. Waspinator and Rhinox are the only two Transformers to go from the first episode to the last without ever becoming mutated or being killed off. Oddly, although this is the last episode, and since his introduction he's played a very significant role in the series, Silverbolt does not have one line. In Nemisis pt 2, Silverbolt has one line. He tells Rhinox that the thrusters are ready or something like that.
